Your best bet would be to call ASUS and request the recovery software, then you will have it for future use also

4  Software Support / Operating Systems : Microsoft / Re: Passwords on: January 05, 2009, 11:48:29 PM
Hi Ian

   1.  Select the folder you wish to encrypt.
   2. Right-click the folder and click Properties.
   3. Click the Sharing tab.
   4. Check the box Make this folder private
   5. Click Apply and then Ok.

IF Make this folder private is grayed out

In order for this option to work in Microsoft Windows XP home you must meet the below requirements.

       1. The hard disk drive must be formatted in NTFS and not FAT32. Additional information about determining the type of file system your hard disk drive is running can be found on document CH000713.
       2. The folder you're attempting to encrypt must be in your own personal folder. For example, if your name is bob, you must be encrypting a folder that is or that is contained within the below folder:

          C:\Documents and Settings\Bob\

You cannot encrypt any folders outside of this folder.

Easiest way to troubleshoot this is to
1. Swap out the video card or update driver
2. swap out network card or update driver

What O.S are you using?

12  Software Support / Operating Systems : Microsoft / Re: BIOS not fully ACPI compliant , help ! on: November 18, 2008, 05:42:28 PM
To reset the memory you need to open the side of the case, assuming this is a desktop, and find the memory modules. Just remove them and reset back in the slot

15  Software Support / Operating Systems : Microsoft / Re: SP3 for Windows XP installation problems on: November 16, 2008, 05:12:36 PM
Typically, this error occurs when a driver uses an incorrect memory address. Other possible causes of this error include an incompatible device driver, a general hardware problem, or incompatible software.
You will not be able to install SP3 until you reformat the computer, been there done that.
There are corrupt or missing files that is causing this issue
