1  Hardware Support / Hardware Devices Problems / How to remove secure information from a printer before disposal on: March 24, 2011, 04:15:07 PM
I have a Kodak 5300 printer that isn't fixable.   I read that printers store confidential information.  How can I remove this before tossing?  Is there something I can remove and chop up with an axe?

Subject printer is no longer connected to my computer.

Thanks.

3  Hardware Support / Hardware Devices Problems / Brother DCP 7040 Printer on: March 15, 2011, 02:44:31 AM
I have Mac OSX and Brother DCP 7040 Printer.  When I print something from the web, part of the right side of the print doesn't show up.  It misses a whole column.  I guess if I choose the landscape option it may work, but is here some setting I can try to adjust the paper width?

Thanks.

4  Hardware Support / Hardware Devices Problems / How to dispose of a Printer (Kodak Easy Share 5300) on: March 07, 2011, 01:05:44 PM
I have subject printer that is no longer working and not worth repairing.  Is there something I should do to remove sensitive information before disposing of it?  If so, can I do it myself?  Can you tell me how to proceed.  Do I have to open the back...is it dangerous...anything "live" in there??

Thank you.

5  Internet & Network Support / Internet & Email / Running both Mac Mail & Entourage - conflict on: March 06, 2011, 01:10:51 PM
My computer is Mac OSX.  I usually use Mac Mail but sometimes also Entourage.

Some incoming emails arrive in Entourage but do not appear on Mac Mail, so if I don't check both accounts, I may miss an incoming message.  Why does this happen?

I like Mac Mail but also some of the features on Entourage.

Thanks.

6  Software Support / Operating Systems : Mac OS / upgraded google earth and need help on: February 27, 2011, 03:12:07 AM
Hey, I solved the problem and managed to empty my trash.  Don't ask me how   Huh?  I may have actually uninstalled Google Earth, (I'm not sure what i did), but at least things are now back to normal.  Perhaps a good night's sleep got my brain in gear again.

So maybe the moderator wants to remove this topic.  Thanks for being my sounding post again!

Using Mac OSX.  Just upgraded Google Earth and now when I try to empty my trash it will not empty.  It says:  this operation cannot be completed because the item "libnpgeplugin.dylib.rsrc" is in use

I am so fed up I tried to uninstall Google Earth but I can't.  And I can't empty my trash.  Can anyone help.  I'd like to get rid of Google Earth if it's going to be a pain.

Thank you for your reply.  I didn't realize my old post was still on.  Since then I have replaced my old computer and Windows ME so I no longer have to deal with the problem.  I guess it can be deleted from the site.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond.

11  Internet & Network Support / Internet & Email / Entourage email problem on: March 11, 2010, 03:57:48 AM
I am using a Mac OSX.

I use Entourage as one of my email accounts and  it's worked fine.  Suddenly however, it shows the wrong date on some of the messages in my In Box.  For Example, I received an email on the 4th of March, 2010 but it shows the date of 19 Feb/10.  This same incorrect date appears on other messages that I received in January 2010 and even one received in April/09 that I had in a folder.  Suddenly all these emails shows the date of 19 Feb/2010.

I am perplexed.         I don't recall making any calendar changes that would have caused this.  If you can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

12  Hardware Support / Hardware Devices Problems / Kodak 5300 print with Mac OSX on: February 08, 2010, 01:09:59 AM
I'm using subject printer with my Mac computer...always worked great until lately.  For instance I want to print the itinerary for a trip via Aeroplan, but when I choose "preview" it shows a blank page and when I choose "print", the page comes out blank.  There is still ink in the black and colour cartridges.  I wonder what is causing this problem.  Sometimes when I try to print I hear a sound....like rollers spinning?Huh?? or something turning.  And my printer always seems to go into the  "pause" mode and I find it difficult to make it change back to "resume".  Could I have changed something without realizing?  When I put a sheet in the printer to copy, it works as it should.

Thanks.

13  Software Support / Operating Systems : Mac OS / Mac OS X and dock on: March 09, 2009, 04:23:05 PM
On the dock bar of my Mac OS X, it shows various things such as Mail, Entourage, Addresses, Microsoft Word, etc.  Is there a way that I could add my Hotmail to this dock?  I tried but can't figure it out.

Thanks.

14  Internet & Network Support / Internet & Email / Mac OS Mail programs: Entourage and Mail on: March 09, 2009, 04:17:35 PM
I have a weird problem.  Although I have completely cleared my In Box, Sent Mail Box, etc. on both mail programs (Entourage & Mac Mail), I daily get notices that my mailbox is full and that I should clean it and that I am over the high water mark.   Can I keep two mail programs running or should I shut one down?  I decided to close Entourage and just use Mac Mail, but still all the emails that come in go to both sites.  I don't know how to stop that.  And I don't understand why I get the notices about my mailbox being full when it isn't.  I clean up both mail sites completely.   I am using Mac OSX

I would like to keep both mail programs if I could, but keep one active and not the other, if that makes sense.

Thanks!

15  Internet & Network Support / Internet & Email / Mac OS - how to use Mail instead of Entourage on: March 04, 2009, 02:24:07 AM
Presently I am using both Entourage & "Mail" on my Mac OS.  If I want to stop using Entourage and use "Mail" only, should I somehow disengage Entourage or is that step necessary?  And will all my email go to "Mail" instead, automatically?

Somehow I am having troubles on Entourage, lately.  I can send but not always receive emails.  But if I go over to "Mail", usually I find them there.

Thanks,

gere
