Error Messages:
I have a laptop with Windows ME. I followed the advice given to me on this site with my HJT log and in the end, it appeared that my computer was clean. I downloaded all of the programs that were recommended. Now my computer is doing something very strange when I turn it on. (It had been doing this before, but continued after it was clean). Here is what it does:
I turn it on and instead of booting up, it displays a gray rectangle box with a greenish rectangle box inside that says "Error 00161." There is a duck that is flying and you can choose "ok" or "cancel." I choose ok then a clock/calendar comes onto the screen. I have to go to each box and change the month, day, year, hour minute and second. Then I click ok and it starts to boot up. Then another gray box with a green box inside comes on the screen and there is a circle with "off" under it and a straight line with "on" under it. In the background is "Thinkpad" written a bunch of times covering the entire screen. There is no duck to make your choice. If I shut off the computer and turn it right back on, it will book up normally.
What in the world is wrong with this computer. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.
