PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: 98SE (s*xy Edition)
Problem Application Name & Version: Windows as if you didn't know Grin
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Intel P4 2.4 1024 DDR 120 Gig
Error Messages: Fake Key detected   Lips Sealed

Yes, I was about to quit when this curious little grey box popped up with "Fake Key detected " in it and then switched off the computer immediately.  Shocked

I had this happen before about twice over the last couple of years and it might be due to the fact that I used a keygen to re-install my 98SE after I lost the CD cover, DOH!  Huh?

Bugger paying for it again just for a serial number.  Cheesy

Alas, it has now spiked my curiousity but to no avail.

Does anyone know what it could be or from?  Huh?

Thanks Brian,

As a user of keygens, I think the problem arises from an appz called "where is it" a CD catalogger, I think?

How ever check out this site called (link removed by admin) and either be shocked or amazed as I was.

The virus thing sounds interesting, could you please tell me more about it...

I think this is the site http://www.devhood.com/news/news_details.aspx?news_id=847  do you use spybot s&d and adaware ? they work very well at getting rid of spyware and adware and spybot will also get rid of some trojans and keyloggers among other little nasties Grin
