i would like to know the best way to do this. just seem to be having a lot of freezing lately. i've been told the best way to do this is to format c drive. im running Window ME

Look for the file CLEANHD.TXT on the ME CD - it will give you the necessary information (it should also be present somewhere in the C:\Windows\Options folder tree).
