OS: XP Pro

Had to do a clean install after virus damage, and when I tried to install AVG Free, the installation failed, giving this error message:

Local machine: installation failed
    Installation:
        Error: Action failed for file avg7core.sys: starting service....
            The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.  (1058)

Tried downloading from the Grisoft site, same result.  The avg7core.sys isn't on my pc, should it be?

Can anyone help with this one?
