Hi!

I'm experiencing two problems at the same time: my HD space keeps on decreasing and since last weeks freezes about 3min on the 'windows icon' before starting. I've checked the event observer which says that every time I start, the system has makes error because it cannot find the SKVP service. At the same time, I had problems to set up my screen saver (went back to old setting every time I restarted). I was thinking I had some worm problem (W32/Rbot-AGP maybe), but I'm hitting the wall.

I've tried many sofwares to help (Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, a

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite

When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install Background Guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

Launch Ewido Security Suite (there should be an icon on your desktop doubleclick it). The program will now go to the main screen. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

On the left hand side of the main screen click update and then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. If you have problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/. Do not run a scan yet.

When you have done this, boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and keep tapping F8 while it restarts).

Run Ewido Security Suite now. Click on Scanner and click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin. During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK. When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen. Save the report to your desktop and close Ewido Security Suite And post the log back here.

=================================

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following exe file and click End Process for each one if they are  listed.

winpnp.exe

Look for this file and delete in safe mode  if found C:\WINDOWS\System32\winpnp.exe

----------------------------------------------------------

You will need to remove all of these reg keys if found...

NOTE ::::Always back up your registry before making any changes. The easiest way to do this is to select the entry that you are going to delete with your mouse and go to File and choose Export. Call it any name that you like (selected branch should be pre-selected) and then send it to a New Folder on your Desktop as a reg file. If you have no further problems, rightclick on the New Folder and delete it. Do NOT doubleclick on a .reg file unless you want to put it back in your Registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\OLE
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole
Windows PNP = "winpnp.exe"

Hi Pancake,

Thank you for your fast answer. I've tried many things lately to solve my problems and it seems better, even though I don't know what helped. (maybe disable the loading of unnecessary process such as ATI2evxx.exe or realsched). Nevertheless, if windows starts a bit faster, it still isn't as it used to be and the space on the HD keeps on decreasing.

I've tried what you said with ewido, here is the log (pretty amazing!):

Can you now post a new HJT log please.

Also download SILENT RUNNERS  to a new folder,... Unzip if Zipped, and run the Silent Runners.vbs file.
Open the "Startup Programs.txt" file it creates, and copy/paste the contents to this post, please.
The "Startup Programs.txt" file will be in the folder you ran the "Silent Runners.vbs" file from.

All the logs look fine.I see no malware of any kind so I now suggest you seek further help from the Operating System Forum for your missing files and other problems.
