Hi,

Your system may be restarting due to overheating or a device driver.
Make sure all the fans are spinning (CPU, chassis (if one) and power supply fan) and that the system is free of dust.

To reformat your hard drive:
1. First, make sure your system supports booting off the WinXP cd.
2. See the "How to Partition and Format Your Hard Disk by Using Windows XP Setup" section of this document: HOW TO: Partition and Format a Hard Disk in Windows XP
3. During setup you will be asked if you want to reformat the partition you have chosen to install WinXP or the keep it, simply select to reformat.
