Hi

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite

When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install Background Guard" and "Install scan via context menu".

Launch Ewido Security Suite (there should be an icon on your desktop doubleclick it). The program will now go to the main screen. You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

On the left hand side of the main screen click update and then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. If you have problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/. Do not run a scan yet.

When you have done this, boot into Safe Mode (restart your PC and keep tapping F8 while it restarts).

Run Ewido Security Suite now. Click on Scanner and click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin. During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK. When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen. Save the report to your desktop and close Ewido Security Suite and post the log here as well as a new HJT log.

These need to be fixed.

Go to Start > Run and type

cmd

and OK. Type the below commands and hit "Enter" after each line

sc stop cmdService
sc delete cmdService

Type Exit to close.
--------------------------------------------------------
Run HJT and fix these two entries.

Ctrl-Alt-Delete  is from the infection (winsupdater.exe)You will need to do a restore.

To do a Restore.

click on the Start button
select Programs
select Accessories
select System Tools
select System Restore

Start the System restore program.
Click the button next to "Restore my computer to an earlier time" and click the "Next" button.
A calendar will appear. Click on the date that you wish to restore Windows to. The box next to the calendar will show you the available restore points from that day. The ones marked "System Checkpoint" are the automatic ones that Windows XP created.
Choose the one you want, then click "Next". Don't pick a point too far back in the past, maybe one just before you started having problems -- remember, any programs you installed since your restoration point may not work anymore,so you may have to reinstall them.
Reboot your PC.

One more option...

Try this,go to www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks2.htm#cos and in the second box "Fixes for Windows XP" choose from the drop down menu "Enable or Disable Ctrl-Alt_Delete" and down load the vbs file to you desktop.

All restore points were deleted when I disabled System Restore. Also, the DisableCAD entry that the .vbs file refers to doesn't exist apparently? I get this error when trying to run the file:

Script: C:\Documents and Settings....\cad.vbs
Line: 9
Char: 1
Error: Unable to open registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\DisableCAD" for reading.
Code: 80070002
Source: WshShell.RegRead

Another thing: I can manually run taskmgr.exe.

As there is no more malware all I can suggest it that you use your Recovery Disc to restore your files.I think that is best done with the help of the guys in the Windows Operating forum.
