When I go on internet explorer, it will let me stay on for about 4 minutes then the internetearthlink icon will start blinking and I have to reboot the whole computer to get back on the internet.  Please help me fix the problem.  The internet explores says earthlink but I do not subscribe to earthlink.  The previous owner may have had it, but I use a cable modem.  The computer is a Gateway 2000 model# g6-233 running windows 98.  If you have any suggestions on how to fix this please let me know.

Have you tried going to the Control Panel and tried to uninstall Earthlink via your Add/Remove Programs function??

Do that first and then report back to see if the problem has been solved.
