Hey guys

Just purchased a  lite on SHW-1635S02C internal dvd+/-rw burner for my dell 4300 to replace a samsung sm 308 cd-rw/dvd drive.

Thought it would be pretty straiht forward and that i'd just open computer switch leads and comp would recognise it..

Unfortunetly this wasn't the case..

When i start computer i get this message

Secondary Hard Disk not found

I hit F2 to enter setup utility and i get

Primary Drive 0            Hard Drive

Primary Drive 1            Off

Secondary Drive 0       Unknown Drive

Secondary Drive 1       Off

If i try and change secondry drive 0 my option are drive type- auto or off

Neither will work..

I've checked all the connections are secure inside pc and am positive its connected the same way as the old drive.

I'm not a whizzkid wid pcs as you've prob already gathered.

Friend said it may be an issue with BIOS?

Heres what's displayed when i start up PC..

Pheonix ROM BIOS Plus Version 1.10 A02

I replaced the burner with the old samsung drive and installed nero and copied the driver to floppy but still nothing..

Surely this device is plug and play and should be recognised by PC.

Anyhow im quite baffled by the problem and any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

If you need any more info let me know..

Cheers

Tom
