Hi guys,

After installing for the first time the free version of Zonealarm this week, my computer restarted immediately as soon as I try to connect to the internet. This happens all the time as soon as it physically installed on my PC; in the sense that even when I shutdown the program from the system tray, and tried to connect to the internet, it still booted my system although it's not running in the background!!! Practically my PC boots whenever I doubliclick my ISP's icon to connect to the internet from my desktop, as long as ZoneAlarm is installed on my PC no matter whether it's running or not!!! Huh?

As a result, I had to completely UNINSTALL ZoneAlarm from my PC as it was giving me a lot of hassle to access the internet. As soon as I UNINSTALLed it, all the system just worked fine and connected to the internet normally.

Please note that when I installed it for the first time, I used/kept the recommended and default settings by ZoneLabs! Also, just before I tried to re-install it for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time, I cleaned my registry with 2 different registry cleaner softwares and also ran CCleaner.

Kindly note that I have a Intel P4 512MB RAM Windows XP SP2 and Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 5, SpywareGuard and Webroot SpySweeper all of them always active in my system tray guarding my system. I have an ADSL internet account.

Considering ZoneAlarm is an award-winning firewall software, which I would therefore like to install on my PC, would someone please tell me what can I do to overcome the problem by install it and access normally the internet using this firewall without any hassle??Is it conflicting with any other software program that might be running in the background?

I thank you in advance for your help and support.

Best Regards,

It sounds like its conflicting with one of the other programs.I would disable Kaspersky Antivirus Personal 5, SpywareGuard and Webroot SpySweeper and see if that fixes it.If it does, reactivate one at a time and see what happens.I dont know a lot about  ZA but maybe go to the forum and see what they have to say.

Hello Pancake,

First of all I'd like to thank you for your time to reply to my problem. I did what you suggested and in fact after I disabled KAV I found out that for some reason or another it was conflicting with Kaspersky AV. Now I uninstalled ZoneALarm but i'm glad with my new Kaspersky AntiHacker program.

Once again I thank you for your help and asistance Pancake.

Best Regards,
