It seems like my computer gets infected with spyware way more than my wife's computer does, and we use our computers for similar sorts of activities.  I wonder why that is.  As a note, I think there may be an anti-spyware program that is more intrusive and slowing my computer down almost as much as what it claims to protect against.  I'm not sure what the program is, but the icon is a red circle with a white "x" inside it and it regularly pops up to tell me "Your computer is infected!"  If you can tell me what to delete to get rid of this program (or if you recommend to hold on to it, I will).  Anyway, here's my hijack this log:

    Hi
    As you will be working in safe mode its best if you print these instruction.Work throught the instructions in the order set out.Download all required program fixes first


    Download
smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Now scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to each of the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
