New pc, finally working. I was in the process of updating earlier this evening. And I got to the sp2 update. It hung for ages at running processes before install (roughly 50%).

I then reset, and had to do a windows repair. Now I am unable to load windows update, it just loads a blank screen and stops responding.

Sys spec

p4 630
1gb geil ddr2 667mhz
7800gt 256mb
xp pro

I dunno what it could be, this has happened to me before. And short of a reformat is there anything I can do. I noticed in some games I have FPS issues, even css with all settings on low. So maybe a reinstall is needed.

Thanks.

Try taking the steps recommended in this Microsoft page. Note that you'll probably need your XP installation CD, unless you know how to search for the files that the procedure demands. A good idea is to print out the instructions before you start.

I used it to reinstall my Windows Updates access, as it wouldn't do anything.
Furthermore, make sure you only do one thing at a time, when updating Windows like this.
