Source is set to absolute low everything low / disabled @ 1024x768. I have tried the game on recommended gfx medium and then the absolute low. I get 30-40 at start. Then when anything interesting happens it drops. The more ppl I try and shoot the worse. It dropped as low as 9 at one point!

FEAR has low fps as well, but its on the recommended gfx for my system. BF2 is fine and so is AOE3... I play source for a clan and really do need it.

If you're running in Direct3D, try switching to OpenGL. Also in colsole, type fps_max 200 (or some larger number)

If it does not help, try to download TuneUp Utilities 2006 for free to clean your pc whit Registry Fixer and DiskCleaner.
This program also has a tool for boosting and setting up your internet connection whit optimal settings, and a tool for optimizing computer configurations. It's called SystemOptimizer. Use it.
Then run Spyware/Adawere software such as Ad-Aware and XoftSpy. I'll recomend you to use both.
Then scan and clean your computer whit a free AntiVirus. (http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html)

Also run defrag and scandisk when you first are cleaning up Wink

If that didn't help, try updating/reinstalling your display drivers
