My com keeps restarting whenever I start up at normal mode. But when I start up in Safe mode, it doesn't, so I ran AdAware, Spybot and PCCillin virusscan in safe mode. The problem is usually rectified temporarily, but after some time, my com will revert back to its old condition, it keeps restarting again!

It restarts without showing any error messages or prompts, my monitor just turns black out of a sudden and the com restarts. Sometimes even worse, my monitor turns black, and nothing happens, while my CPU is still whirring away!

Please help!

Hi suhan,

Nothing malicous in your log. I am leaning towards maybe a bad power supply unit.
Right Click My Computer/Properties/Advanced/System & Recovery-Settings tab
Under System Failure uncheck Automatically Restart. Next time it reboots you will recieve a BSOD with some information on it. Jot down this error and post back here.

I've unchecked the Auto Restart function. My com restarted a few more times afterwards, but there were no alerts or error messages of any kind. Is it possible to post the screenshot of a BSOD so that I can look out for it?

Thanks!

Oic, haha, the blue screen of death, i was wondering what BSOD stands for  Cheesy

Anyways, my com is still restarting, and the peculiar thing is, it restarts whenever it has reached the Login page, and never before. Also, whenever I boot it up in Safe Mode, it's always very stable, that's why I'm able to run AdAware and virusscan and whatnot. R u sure this is a problem with the power supply? I don't have any alternative power supply to try.

Anyways, I also have an EDW_ELITEBAR.B attack, is it possible this is related?

My com is going crazY!

Anyways, I've just ran ewido scan as suggested by Pancake on http://www.mytechsupport.ca/component/option,com_forums/Itemid,42/topic,10883.0 in Safe Mode, then when I boot up my com in normal mode, the monitor screen turned black and it went into Energy Saving mode once it reaches the login page! I force-turn-off my com and turned it on a few more times, but still it gave me the same response! Now it doesn't even restart.

Then I went into Safe Mode again (doesn't restart at all!) and ran AdAware, nothing malicious was found, then I restarted my com frm Safe Mode. I manage to get past the login page, and thus I'm able to type this post... I seriously doubt it's the power supply tt's faulty!

Try  Windows Memory Diagnostic Test
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.
