Hi,

Dr. Watson saves error logs in Windows and can be viewed through "Event Viewer"

Seems as though you have a database open which should be shut down before it can be backed up. What DB are you using ? e.g. MS SQLserver....

The backup software should not crash though.

Let me know what is the error message in Event Viewer that relates to this problem.

Hi,

Yes I see it but I don't see the BackupExec entry, it would be in the Application log.
In Event Viewer:
Log > Application

I need the see the contents of the BackupExec error

I think this is unrelated but do you know what Otman4 is?

I had no idea what Otman4 is but I think is Famous (the software we use) that cause, it use Oracle memory which I had no idea what that is.

I had attached the event log from Backupexec, is this is the right one? You may have to track back to yesterday because this morning the backup went sucessful.

Hi,

Dr. Watson only adds to Windows' log, can you check the Event Viewer's Application Log?

Anyways, seems like your running an Oracle database, does the BackupExec software take care of shutting down Oracle or is it scheduled with a script. I would appear the database came back up before the backup had finished but I still do not see why the app crashed. Need to check Winodows' application log

the backupexec suppose to stop the Famous database before backup and restart once is done.

It happen once in a while, average four or five times a month, but last month is the worst.  Every time it happens we have to manually start Famous Database and somethimes we have to re-boot the server because it won't respond at all.

Hi,

Do you have any entries for BackupExec in the Windows Event Viewer's Application log?

In Event Viewer:
1. Log > Application
2. Look for entries for the BackupExec failing.
3. Look at the error and let me know.
