I have a Memorex CD-RW with Quicken financial data stored on it.  When I start Quicken and tell it to open the file (M-Drive), I get the message - "Disk M: is write protected.  A file cannot be saved on a write-protested disk."  I know the data is there and it has opened normally in the past.  Memerex was of no help.  Can someone help resolve and explain what's happening for future reference?

Hi and Welcome to

I'm assuming you overwrite the data on this disk from time to time for your backups or was this the first burn?

What program do you use to burn your data onto the cd with?

If you use a command such as "Save File As..." to direct the file to your CD, it goes instead to a queue file, until it transfers the whole session in
one go. Only trouble with this is, at the end of the session it closes out the CD without confirming that that's what you want to do - the CD is now "full" and no longer writable.
