When I turned on my computer today, it came on in Safe Mode.  I tried everything to get it back to normal, to no avail.  I cannot use System Restore.  I shut down and started up many times, but every time it comes back in Safe Mode.  I even used F8 and chose the normal #1 mode, but it still won't kick in.  I sure need your advice!!

Thanks.

Using Windows ME

Not only am I stuck in Safe Mode....now, I can't seem to get all the screen in view.  I went into Display Properties and tried to change the resolution, but I can't scroll down far enough vertically to click OK...to accept the change.

I am at my wit's end.

You wont be able to change the resolution in Safe Mode, the drivers are not installed in this mode.
Do you have your Windows cd? You can try a Repair Install

Dear Geekgirl:

Thanks for your response.   Just a day or so ago I got mad....grrrrr...and I tried so many things to get my computer out of Safe Mode...and by golly....the next morning it opened in regular mode.  The computer fairly must have visited overnight  Wink   And I did manage to change the screen resolution after much frustration.

So now I am more convinced than ever that I am going to buy a new computer soon.  Windows ME has been a pain and it is 6 years old now...my computer...so I think it's time.  I'd like to wait for Vista but maybe I'll end up with XP.  Windows ME is noted for "freezing" and this has been a constant problem with my system.

So, thanks again.  Oh...I did have a computer chap in to clean up a few things the other day and he couldn't understand why it was stuck in Safe Mode either.  I have no idea what he actually did....I know he uninstalled and reinstalled my printer which wasn't able to scan and now it can.

So....until it breaks again....once more I am happy...for awhile  Grin  And I do thank you for answering.  I really meant to let the forum know my problem was solved and I apologize...it completely slipped my mind!  So I guess you can delete this topic...I'm not sure if I even know how to!  Thanks.
