My Clevo M560a notebook has an Intel Pro/wireless 2915ABG wireless LAN adapter (PCI card) which has started to throw an IRQ conflict error, causing system freeze problems etc. Restarting XP Pro (SP2) either fixes the problem (until next IRQ conflict problem episode) or throws up a 'hardware installation' error, requiring a repair of the Intel driver/software installation. Bad enough, except now I have a Windows error log showing an 'Event 5031 - unrecoverable hardware or software error' event for the adaptor and nothing fixes the problem .
Have tried updating the device driver/software (no luck). My BIOS doesn't allow re-allocation of IRQ for this device (even though IRQ address 11 is free). The Intel card shares IRQ20 with an SD Host Controller.
SOOOOO - do I trash the card and install a new one, or is this an OS/software problem? For now I have simply uninstalled the driver and am using wired LAN for my ADSL connection.
Any ideas? Thanks folks!
