I have heard talk around the office of people making "images" of their hard drive.  If anyone has any background of this, can someone please explain the process briefly on how this works and good known and tested programs to do this.

Thanks.

You want to create an image/Clone your hard drive?

There are many ways to do this, you'll need a disk imaging utility, I prefer using Acronis True Image

Read over this article it should explain everything to you
