Here's one that no one could help me with even on the Roxio boards, hopefully someone here can help. I just purchased Roxio EMC9 and installed it to my Dell Inspiron 9400 notebook. I had removed version 7 completely before installing 9. The whole program is there but the Label Creator fails to launch, the splash screen appears and disappears but the program doesn't launch. I tried to launch it from the Creator Classic part of the program and an error message appears "Server Execution Failed". I rolled back IE7 (known issues) to IE6, and also rolled back WMP11 to WMP10. I went to the dell website and updated all video drivers and any other updates necessary. After that I tried unistalling and reinstalling a couple of different times and still the same problem. I installed the problem on my desktop pc and it all works no problem. I will post a HiJackThis log at the end of this message. Help!!

Does anyone have any ideas? This problem won't go away.

Server execution failed.
This is usually an initialization error that occurs before any installation dialogs appear. This error is usually machine specific and is caused by either not enough permissions or by a break in one of the COM components on your machine.

This error may occur if an install or uninstall that prompted for a reboot was suppressed (i.e., "No, I will restart my computer later" was selected); thus, it did not completely finish. This may conflict if another install is run. To avoid receiving this error, always choose to following option when prompted for a reboot at the end of a installation:

    "Yes, I want to restart my computer now."

After the reboot, continue with any other installs or uninstalls, and you should not receive this error. If this error occurs even after selecting Yes to the reboot prompt, Install the iKernel Engine Update. This ensures that the InstallShield engine files are correctly installed on your system, as this can be another cause of the error.

Because this is usually a machine-specific issue, there is no single resolution for this error. Usually one of the following suggestions, or a combination of, address the issue:

    * Clean the Temp Directory
    * Acquire Administrative Privileges on Your Computer
    * Update Your Computer

Thanks Geekgirl for your response. I really wanted that to work but unfortunately it didn't. I installed the iKernel update with not fix to the Label Creator. I have done searches through Google for every error message I can find, including messages listed on the Event Viewer and still no fix. Any more ideas?

I created two new profiles and nothing. My brother in law is going to check to computer out tonight to see if he can fix it. He's a programmer so maybe he will have more luck than me. Let ya know what happens.

If all else fails, Try using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. As long as you installed the application using the Windows Installer, this utility will remove all the folders, files, registry keys, and entries from your system and allow you to start over with a clean slate.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Locate and run msicuu2.exe to install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
Locate and launch the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility on the Start menu.
From the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility window, locate the application in the list and click the Remove button.
Once the application has been removed, click the Exit button to close the utility.

You may now try and reinstall the application

Keep me posted I am interested in knowing what the issue is(was)

I have used the Windows Install Cleanup Utility many times during this whole process of uninstalls and reinstalls. I always make sure it is completely wiped out from the system before rebooting and reinstalling. I have not heard from my brother in law so my guess is he's not having any luck either. I also found out that RMC9 has issues with Windows XP Professional, I wonder if that may be causing some of the problem? I have Home Edition on my desktop, and Pro on the problematic laptop.

Well, after all the searching and posting on different forums, the only thing that worked to fix this issue was a complete reformat of the hard drive and a clean install of Windows XP Pro. It now works fine but I never did find the cause of the problem. Case closed, thanks for all the help.
