Advent 8652, Windows Me, Winword     Printer = Lexmark X73

I keep getting the message 'winword has caused an error in winspool drv'  I  have re-started the computer time and again without success.  'Winspool drv' is a printer one so I have aslo uninstalled and reinstalled the printer several times.  All to know avail. In addition to this the printer is no longer working.  It is a Lexmark x73.  I would be grateful for any suggestions.  Thanks

Hi,

Try using this to uninstall (clean) the Lexmark driver:
http://drivers3.lexmark.com/drivers.nsf/printer+driver/56ECB026B68BBE9785256C5D0056DB19?OpenDocument&Lexmark+X73

Then re-install the Lexmark drivers using:
http://drivers3.lexmark.com/drivers.nsf/printer+driver/968B69971F6ACC3B85256AB60070F920?OpenDocument&Lexmark+X73

IMPORTANT: Make sure you read ALL the instructions on both pages (above) before downloading

Hi ,Have done as you suggest with no joy.  I get as far as 'insert disk' (I do not have the disks and Lexmark seem to be very relucant to send them or asisst in any way) I click on skip file and carry on with the process.  The response I get is that files, 'lexsub.inf., lxarinst.dll. , sw.21nst.drv.  and lxpnpapw.dll., are missing and therefore the printer cannot be installed.

Hi,

If you unzipped the files to the default location, then when asked for the files location, point to "c:\Lxkx73"
