i have an old generic 4x dvd drive and also a newer micro advantage dvd drive
up until several weeks ago both worked fine and i could burn and read back and forth

only memorable changes were adding an epson multi use printer fax scan copy etc . that messed everything up
usb drives , usb hard drives etc
got rid of that and installed an hp mult function device and the usb drives and portable hard drives work fin

now the two dvd drives show up in the device manager as corrupted or missing drivers

i uninstalled both devices and rebooted and the same is happening again as it aparently keeps reloading the same driveers . tried update driver function and no better drivers are found

win xp pro sp 2 is in operation

what's next ?

is there a padlock on the far right column , or is it just my view ? the 'lock this topic' box is NOT checked
