I can't get my 2 computers to see one another in the network. I have a laptop and a desktop both running winxp. Can someone tell me what to do to get them to see one another on the network? Thanks

First of all, you need to share a folder on both computers. Then check to see if you have something in My Network Places -> Entire Network -> Microsoft Windows Network -> Workgroup name (could be Workgroup or MSHome or something else you have created)

When that's done, report back with your findings.

if you haven't already done so, in control panel > network connections, on the side menu it says set up a home or office network. that usually does the trick.
