I spent a lot of time trying the various suggested techniques, including tweakUI, to automate Windows XP lgoin, but nothing worked.  Now I frequently cannot login at all.  I decided to get rid of the login option.   First I deleted the account, then I removed all the Microsoft.Net softare and patches.  Now what happens is the message "Windows is unable to log you in" appears sometimes for a split second then "windows starting" appears and it hangs forever.  Worse I cannot access the Internet now from this computer.  There is a second problem that may or may not be relatted.  My boot drive is F instead of C.  I don't know why that happened, perhaps because of outher "drives" usb, memory cards, etc. which pused the drive letter down to F:  Now when I try to reinstall Windows I an uanble to make it see F.  It tries to install to C (which doesn't exist) and finallly ends in a BSOD.  The attempt to reinstall Windows has casues a lot of other problems including video settings and error messages fo some programs.  I hope I don't have to reformat that drive.  There's a ton of stuff on there!  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to the forum,

Your system sounds like its really become worse with ever attempt to fix.
Have you tried System Restore to a point before this all happened?
You may have a corrupt profile which is what is causing your login issues, attempting to repair has only  made it  worse
