Running from the command prompt
C:\  format C:

After asking me if I wanted to proceed with the format

Format cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (y/n) Y
Cannot lock the drive. The volume is still in use.

I am doing this after deleting all files. I think I caught a virus at a site I had visited; probably shouldn't have been there.

First of all, what Operating system was on the drive previously?

Second: Where are you trying to do this from? Inside the OS or from a fresh OS install, or maybe some other way?

Please let me know and then we can find out the real trouble spot Smiley

Good luck
