I had the free edition of Zone Alarm, but when my computer was unplugged and replaced with an Apple by a visitor, when he left, Zone Alarm stopped functioning as it used to.  So I made sure that it was completely uninstalled in order to reinstall it, but now when I try to download the free edition, I get a message that it cannot be installed because: export KERNEL 32.DLL is missing or not working.  Could this message be on account of another computer being used for a day?  Everything is back as it was on my computer, so I can't understand what the problem is.

Any advice?  Or is there another free firewall I should look at?  I am getting a new computer later in the Spring, so I don't want to buy any firewall at this time.

Thanks.

I am not sure about the error you're receiving but there are other free firewalls available...check out our Security Center page here... http://www.mytechsupport.ca/content/view/23/179/

I believe both Outpost Firewall Free and Safety.Net will run on Windows ME....

Thanks for your help.  I downloaded Safety.Net and it appears to be working fine.
