Hey everyone, just a quick question hoping someone could give me a little insight on the problem. I had a brand new computer made with awesome stats as follows:

-Asus P5N-E Sli Motherboard
-Intel Q6600
-2 Gb DDR2 PC-6400 Corsair XMS2 Gaming Ram
-BFG Tech Geforce 8800 GTS 640mb
-500GB Western Digital, 7200 RPM 16MB Hard drive
- 650 watt Thermaltake Sli ready Power supply

Alright so heres the story, I got this computer about 2 months ago had everything custom made from a famous company in every PCGAMER magazine known as Ibuypower. The pc worked awesome, and about a full month ago the computer started to make this loud screeching sound when being started up before post. When you restart it from windows it doesnt make this sound, only when the computers been off or left off for more than 5 seconds. The screech I can live with, but about 2 weeks ago ontop of the loud startup screech, im getting random shut downs and freezes, not alot, maybe 1 every 3 days, but still its annoying. The pc mostly shuts off when idling, when im not near it.  So if anyone has any idea of what I should do please let me know. and if you require any more details, just ask and i will repost something.

and by the way the loud screech on startup isnt from the graphics card, I took the power supply out and its a whole different screech from the GPU. when i start up it goes "Beeeeeeeeep" its about 2-3 seconds long and then 1 quick "beep" for post.

Try fitting a different power supply to your system, to see if that's your problem. Another option is to have the rig sent back to the retailer for a check, since it should be under warranty.

The worst case scenario here might be that the bracket that holds the cooling system to the CPU has broken and the CPU is not getting sufficient cooling. The additional effect could be screeching noises from a loose heatsink/fan combo.
