PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows ME
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Registry Editor

Cannot import C:\WINDOWS\sp.dll:Error opening file.There may be a disk or file system error.
 
                         OK

Although there seem to be no problem with my PC, this message ia annoying and I have to hit OK all the time to get proceed.

Hi,

This is not a Windows file and I assume your antivirus software found a virus in this file (most likely the virus itself) and deleted the file.

1. Start > Run
2. Type 'msconfig' then OK (no quotes)
3. Go to the 'Startup' tab and look for a line containing a reference to "SP.DLL" and uncheck.

marvelous!......been up for nights trying to figure out what has happened, my flatmate was the last user of the pc before this all started (no clue just like me!)and been threatening my flatmate with eviction since then (two weeks!)if we cannot fix this! thank you for helping preserve domestic harmony.......
