I have an outdated computer and I need to purchase a DVD-ROM in order to play some DVD-ROM tutoring disks that I purchased for my son.  It needs to be external.  When I look for an "External DVD-ROM" I get this:

DVD+R(DL), DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R, CD-R, CD-RW.

I wish I knew what they mean but I dont. All I need is a DVD-ROM that could play INTERACTIVE tutoring disks.

PLEASE HELP ME!!! Huh?

What you need is an external DVD drive that can burn and read all forms of DVD or CD disks. Don't worry about the brand, just get something that's within your budget and does the job. The people at your local computer store ought to have what you need and the knowledge about how to make things work like you want them to.

If the computer is running Windows from the 9x/Me family, then you need to let them know about it, because not all the latest models have drivers for the old OSes. If you're running Windows 2000/XP/Vista then you're not going to have any trouble at all with this.

Good luck
