Hi folks,,I installed another hard drive this morning and checked the bios to see if it was recognized as a slave drive. It states "not detected" I know the cables are good as is the PC because I disconnected another slave hard drive already in it to try the replacement one.
Although the hard drive is a Samsung and looks brand new,,I suspect it might be defective.
Any ideas as to what I can do?

See if the jumpers on the back of the harddrive are located in the appropriate position. That's usually the culprit in this kind of situation. Either have it placed in the Slave position or in the Cable Select position. Refer to the one you had previously and see that works for you.

Good luck
