i get to the windows xp loading screen and before the loading bar starts going my computer restarts itself and keep doing it over and over...

i put in the windows disk and booted from cd but when i try to do anything in there it says that the hard disk could not be found...

at this point i just want to completely erase my hard drive and start over from scratch and reinstal windows and everything...is there anything i can do or do you think my hard drive is toast?

it did this before and i took it in to get fixed and they fixed it but they told me it could be my hard drive and it might happen again...they didn't whipe my system though so i am thinking if i can figure out how to do that it might work....

Did you hear any strange noises from the hard drive before this started happening?

Though I must admit that the harddisk failure idea is not very plausible if you get the XP loading screen, as that has to be collected from the boot sector of the harddrive.

Can you start the machine in Safe Mode?
