    MORE INFORMATION
    File types that are blocked

    After you install Office 2003 SP3, the following Microsoft Office Excel 2003 file types, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 file types, and Microsoft Office Word 2003 file types are blocked. By default, these file types are blocked because the parsing code that Office 2003 uses to open and save the file types is less secure. Therefore, opening and saving these file types may pose a risk to you.

    The following table contains the registry value names and the corresponding file types that are blocked from opening by default.
    Registry value name   File types that are blocked

[list=1]
  • CDR   Corel Draw (.cdr)
  • LotusandQuattroFiles   .wk1, .wk4, .wj3, wk1 FMT, .wks, .wk3, wk3 FM3, .wj2, .wq1, .fm3, .wj1
  • LegacyBinaryFiles   Microsoft Excel 4.0 Charts (.xlc) files
  • LegacyDatabaseAndDatasourceFiles   DBF 2 (dBASE II) (.dbf) files
  • FilesBeforePowerPoint97   This policy will prevent the opening of files that are older than PowerPoint 95 and that have file types such as .ppt, .pot, .pps, and .ppa.
  • FilesBeforeVersion

All Word files that have a version number that is less than but not equal to Word 6.0 for Windows are blocked from opening. This includes the following file versions:

To be honest, I'm extremely happy that I've ditched MS Office completely and am only using Open Office. No such problems there Cheesy
