PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windowx XP Professional
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:  LG DVD CD-RW
Error Messages: none

I just intalled a DVD CD-RW drive into my desktop. The desktop already had a working CD-ROM in it, and I left this CD-ROM in the computer. I plugged in the extra drive belt and power cord to the DVD CD-RW drive and turned on my computer. The drive connector that I attached to the DVD -CDRW is on the same belt as the drive connector to the CD-ROM.

Now, my computer doesn't even recognize my old CD-ROM drive. Any suggestions on what I did wrong? I'd like to keep my CD-ROM drive if possible instead of replacing it completely with the DVD CD-RW. Thanks for your suggestions / help.

Which CD drive did you make master or slave on the same belt?

Cd drives only work best if the are connected to either IDE1 or IDE2 belt, not both

Hi,

There is a small plastic jumper at the end of your cdrom/dvd drive that needs to be set. One drive has to be set to master and the other to slave.

Did you do this?

Thanks!  That worked.  They were both on master.  I set one to slave.  Thanks again.
