Hi there, I have a problem and would like some help if possible, after installing Vista, I installed Nero 7, upon trying to run it I got a not compatible with this version of windows etc. no problem I thought, so I got Nero 8, now the fun begins....Nero 8 will not install due to an older version of Nero being found on my system, I have tried uninstalling Nero 7 but it simply will not let me, as it crashes out midway, whether I use Nero uninstall or the Programs and Features from within Control Panel.
So I decided to manually delete the Nero folder and then tidy up using a registry cleaner. I managed to delete all files from the Nero folder except the following : mfc71u.dll and NBShell.dll, both of which are located in the Nero BackItUp folder. These two files are both telling me I need permission to delete them, I am logged in as the administrator, as there is only the one account on here, to be safe I even allowed full access to the files from within their properties, under the permissions settings, still no joy.
I have tried CCleaner, still the same. I even went through the registry manually, deleting all references to Nero along the way, still the problem persists. Does anyone have any suggestions on this please ??

**UPDATE**

Nevermind, I have managed to do it now, I found a program called RevoUninstaller, it did the trick straight away, no more Nero 7 files locked away anywhere. For info it's free too.

Thanks anyway.

Excellent job Smiley

I'm happy you managed to fix the problem. Do you possibly have the link to this uninstaller program, so we can add it to our increasing list of useful utilities?

The software, which is freeware, is available at http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
