I am trying to fix this system without compromising hard drive data. The OS is XP Pro, 2ghz, 2gb memory, and 100+gb hdd. The motherboard is from a company called Gigabyte.
The computer was working fine and it was turned off via hard shut down. It hasn't worked since then. When I turn on the computer instead of the normal boot, it goes to "Bios Image Loading ..", it goes black, reboots, and does the same thing over again.

I'm not sure how to approach this issue, as I have never seen it before. How do I resolve this issue, and can I resolve this without reformatting? (There are important documents on the drive (SATA) that need to be salvaged, and do have a spare computer but the motherboard supports IDE only.) Any ideas?

Remove the CMOS battery and disconnect the power supply unit connector from the motherboard. Wait 10 minutes and replace battery and reconnect the power supply unit. It should now boot or at least into the BIOS/Setup
