Is there any software to enhance the computation speed of the computer. The configuration of the computer includes 512MB of Ram, Pentium IV processor with 80GB Hard Drive and Mercury Chipset.

Hi,

To "enhance the computation speed of the computer" you could overclock it by tweaking some BIOS settings. You may or may not be able to overclock your Intel CPU depending on your motherboard.

Here are some articles to get you started:

Here are tools to monitor and get CPU information and stats:

Please note that if you do not intend to upgrade your system cooling (e.g. CPU fan...) DO NOT attempt overclocking your CPU. You will need to test in small BIOS setting changes to make sure system stability remains.

Also, depending on your operating system, you may want to add more memory to speed things up.

--------------------------

In many cases, the system has simply become "bogged down" with software and/or spyware

Here is Microsoft's "5 ways to speed up your PC"

Here is a commercial product with a free scan to speed up your pc (clean it)

Here is a free application to clean your pc

If your internet connection seems slower that before, post an HijackThis logs to the "Security & Viruses" forum
