My girlfriend has recently been having issues with something called Windows Security Alerts.  I hav run Spybot, Ad-Aware, Rogue Remover, and Smitfraud Fix.  They all seem to run successfully and at the same time it seems to not really do any thing.  While on the computer I will get redirected occasionally and there is a little alert icon down in the bottom right hand corner and that informs me that Automatic Updates are turned off but when I go in through the control panel and look into it, it shows that the Automatic Updates are still turned on.

Any help that you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated.  I am also posting a HJT log.

Run both these programs.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from one of these places:

 http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html

 http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Please Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Ok.Lets download ComboFix.exe. This will give me a better view to the files running and also hidden on your computer and also those in the registry..Please visit this webpage for downloading and instructions for running the tool:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right-click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.

Double-click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.Recovery Console can be installed from your disc if you have Vista if you wish.

Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you but I think I forgot to tell the site to email me when there was a reply.  I did follow your instructions and now the little warning at the bottom of the screen is now gone but I figured I would still post the logs to make sure that it is completely gone.  So here are the logs....

Please copy this page to *Notepad* and save to your desktop for reference as you will not have any browsers open while you are carrying out portions of these instructions.

It's IMPORTANT to carry out the instructions in the sequence listed below.
1. Close any open browsers.
2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Open *notepad* and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Quote

File::
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\bxkvebbr.ini
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\uortdrmv.ini

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe which is on the Desktop.

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt

Please copy and paste the ComboFix.txt along with a fresh HijackThis log in your next reply  please.

*Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.Altering this script in any way could damage your computer*

Just this to fix and your done..

Quote

File::
 c:\windows\system32\tmp.reg

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe which is on the Desktop.

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt

Please copy and paste the ComboFix.txt along with a fresh HijackThis log in your next reply  please.

*Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.Altering this script in any way could damage your computer*

Lets just tidy up this and then your good to go...

Have "HijackThis" fix  the following item/s in the list below by placing a check in the appropriate boxes.Confirm that you have only the listed ones checked, then press <Fix checked> and close"HijackThis".Please close any open programs before doing this fix.

Thank you so much for all of your help with this.  Before I did this last fix the computer's anti-virus still found a virus but it had us restart to remove it so hopefully there won't be any more problems but if there is I'll see what I can do to fix it.  Hopefully I can do it all on my own.

Thanks again.
