Hi all,

My friend's Acer laptop has numerous problems but I thought I would start with this one.  I cannot uninstall MS Works which came pre-installed.  The OS is Vista Home Premium.

The Programs and Features window displays no program size.  When I try and uninstall it I get: -

"The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'WORKS8.MSI' in the box below"

The 'Use source' box points to C:\AcerSW\Office\Trial\CD2\ by default.  This folder does not exist.

I found an MS Works CD that came with another Acer laptop and tried installing it with a view that it may then let me uninstall it.  It was a different sub version and was just installed alongside the exisiting program.  I have also tried pointing to WORKS8.MSI on this CD, but I get the same error.

What should I try next?

Please note that I am very unfamiliar with Vista so please give me very simple instructions.  Grin

Many thanks,
Sharon

Is Works on it and activated? Ensure it is activated, then try to remove it.

Try CCleaner. It has a function to remove programs that are stubborn. I do not endorse registry cleaners though. I would advise not using that function.

If you are unable to remove it from the Control Panel and even you have tried Ccleaner. Then, you should try Revo Uninstaller.

Look in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\Setup folder. Is there an Installer Package (Wk2000). If Yes, double click on it. It will give you the option to uninstall.
