My friend got a virus on his computer and he was trying to reformat. First he was using the Vista: Recovery Disc 1 & 2.
Then he got an error message.

When he does that and try's again. After it says its "Recovered" it goes back to the same message over and over. SO then he tried

to install Windows XP....then this comes up on a blue screen.

Try changing the CD/DVD Rom or get a fresh OS copy.

yes your disk is only partially formatted. you need to start setup back at the begining again..
(you can do a quick format if you want)
reason being if the drive is bran new the file system was raw (meaning no information at all)
there is no reason to do a full format.. a quick will work just fine.

Reformat it completely again...as in your whole system...that might be the answer to its hard drive error...

Format the hard drive. That is the only solution. Reload the operating system. Check if the system is supporting Vista or not. RAM should be at least 2GB for Vista to function smoothly.
