PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows XP
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: NEC ND-1300
Error Messages:

Just bought a DVD-burner and I'm of course having some problems. First of all I didn't get any drivers in the purchase and I can't find them on NEC's homepage either. Windows can find the drive and I can start a DVD movie. the problem is that the burning software I've tried can't find the drive. Also when I load an empty DVD media in the burner and try to open the drive from "My Computer" i get the message: "j:/ is not accessible. Incorrect function.

Do I need the drivers or is there some other problem?

Use auto detect to set up your drive.

Well windows has found the drive and when I try to update the driver it says that the best driver is installed already. The driver that windows has chosen is like "standard DVD-ROM drive or something and that can't be right

One more thing: In the software the DVD burner is listed as DVD-ROM, but the CD burner is listed as CD-RW. Talked to a friend and his DVD burner is listed as DVD-RW.

So it seems like the software detects the drive as a DVD-ROM only...

Hi,

Was the DVD burning software included with the drive?

What software and version are you using?

Lets see. I'm using "Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0" and "Stomp RecordNow MAX 4.1".

And no they weren't included in the drive.

Hi,

Are these the latest release?

Check for an update or patch to these software and make sure they support your DVD burner.
