My computer got infected with the Secerity Essentials 2010 virus and I did what i could to get rid of it myself but it has destroyed my computer.

I feel like it is impossible to fix.

I try and start my machine and I get a windows startup error.

\Windows\System32\drivers\avlvicy.sys                          0xc0000225

It says to reinstall windows. I have no Vista Disc. Nor do I know the version of Vista I even have. I only have a external DVD Burner as my drive and I am afraid that even if i find a disc it won't run off the driver at start up.

I tried to F10 at startup to recovery but i just get the same error as before.

I feel that my computer is actually impossible to fix.

I wish I had more information but this is all I have. I just want to reformat my computer and start fresh.

Try and tap the "F8" key right after you turn the pc on
See if you can get into SAFEMODE
If you can use RESTORE

START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM INFORMATION>RESTORE

and RESTORE to an earlier date that you know the PC was working

I cannot enter safe mode I get the same error I get when I try and start windows normally. I have tried to system restore and it did not work. My only choice is to reformat but It seems my computer will not allow me to enter windows recovery from pressing f10. Same error always shows.

What recovery system?
WinXP Recovery?
Or your systemboard recovery if the MFG'r put 1 on another partition on the HDD?

When you tap F8 do you get to BOOT MENU screen?
If you do,at the top is the choice to "REPAIR YOUR COMPUTER" there?
If it is follow the instruction and try a repair

I have no idea. All i know is that it is Windows Vista. There is no way for me to tell what version.

I turn my power on and press f10 and it comes to a boot screen i select the only available option ( a bunch of random letters) and then i just get the same error as listed before.

This is all i am able to tell anyone. It sucks this Virus has totaled my system Sad

I pressed F8 and got a menu with options like Debug and Recovery but all of them just lead to the Error Screen.

I finally found my Windows Vista Home Primium Disc and now im trying to install it via my External DVD Burner.

I have gone to the Bios settings and set it to boot from USB. But when I restart it gets stuck on a black screen with EB in the bottem right corner.

Make sure your BIOS is able to recognize the USB DVD ROM device
Make sure the USB option in the BIOS is enabled
Set it as 1st BOOT DEVICE

First off thank you for helping me this far.

I have set the DVD drive to boot first and enabled USB. When i startup with the windows vista disc in it just brings me to a black screen with EB in the bottom right.

I have torn apart 2 other computers and hooked up a CD drive to my computer but it just brings the same result.

Now i really have no idea where to go from here.

I just reset my BIOS settings to default and then loaded my drive in first priority and now its loading my windows vista Smiley

Thank you so much for your help.

Now i hope I can just find my windows key somewhere or i will be screwed.
