PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:WINDOWS XP
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:MAXTOR IDE 30.0GB 7200RPM HARD DRIVE
Error Messages:3O GB HARD DRIVE ONLY HAS 2GB AVAILABLE.



I HAVE ONLY 2GB AVAILABLE ON THE NEW HARD DRIVE THAT I HAVE INSTALLED. IT IS A 30GB HARD DRIVE. WHERE IS THE OTHER 28GB? IS IT SOMETHING TO DO WITH PARTIONING? I KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT PARTITIONING. PLEASE HELP. IF YOU CAN GIVE ME GOOD CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW I WOULD BE GRATEFUL! I HAVE A VERY BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF COMPUTERS.

Hi,

Go to the 'Computer Management' in the Control Panel and select 'Disk Administration', you will be able to partition the rest of the drive and format it.
