Finally: a Vista 32 bit very very slow start fix - WORX 100%

Vista 32 bit very very slow start fix 100%

Always create a restore point before editing registry!!!

These folder operations can only done from a boot disk 'RAM file manager' as access will always be denied to you in these folders while in Windows!

Let's start... it's safe and it's been tested by me over some days to get my ASUS lappy running like it's brand new again.

Delete this folder:
C:\Windows\System32\Logfiles\WMI\RTBackup

Rename this folder:
C:\Windows\System32\Winevt\Logs
to
C:\Windows\System32\Winevt\Logs-BAD

Create new folder:
C:\Windows\System32\Winevt\Logs

Reboot and open Regedit:

Regedit, create new entries:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
create a new REG_DWORD key named "HideSCAVolume" = 0
create a new REG_DWORD key named "HideSCAPower" = 0
create a new REG_DWORD key named "HideSCANetwork" = 0
create a new REG_DWORD key named "HideSCAHealth" = 0

Regedit, reset values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Perfdisk\Performance
Edit value of "DisablePerformanceCounters" = 0

For Hard Disk Sentinel Software users:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HD Sentinel
create a new STRING key named "DisablePerfCacheClear" = 1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HD Sentinel
create a new STRING key named "DetectPerf" = 1

For all users enables HDD performance logs to be enabled:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib
create a new REG_DWORD key named "Configuration Flags" = 2

Enable "Performance Logs & Alerts" service:
type "services.msc" at the RUN command.
scroll down to "Performance Logs & Alerts"
Set to RUN
Set service to automatic

That's it!
Just took me 3 years to finally get around to working it out with hundreds of net searches turning up finally all the things I needed. Jeez why doesn't MS put these things into a Hotfix instead of saying "no we won't", go figure!

Now reboot and enjoy a fast boot, with no lengthy black screens and all of the HDD performance options now working!

 Cheesy
