PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: win xp
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: p4 2.4 ghz
Error Messages: 0x80000008e

Hi ,

My win xp computer periodically crashes with the following stop ERROR

0x0000008E ( 0XC0000005  0X8052F9E3  0XF8A1E814,  0X00000000 )

can anyone please tell me what the problem is and a possible solution.

I suspect it is a random access memory problem, but i dont know if the memory is faulty and a new module of the same brand will do or it is completely incompatible with the system and i need to go in for a different brand.

I use 512 MB DDR RAM with intel D845gebv2 m'board
can anyone please tell me if my suspicion is correct and if not , then what is the problem and what is the solution

Thanks

Hi,

This could be memory related but can also be hardware drivers related.
Is there a module name referenced in the error message?
(e.g. STOP: 0x00000050 ( parameter1 , parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 ) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA Filename)

Try testing your memory to see if error are detected.

No  there is no  module name referenced in the error message.

When i used gold memory tester it gave me plenty of error messsges.
Whereas memtest86 just stopped working, it wouldn't go beyond 22%

Guess this means my memory is bad. I use simmtronics modules 2*256 MB DDR

Hi,

Try finding a vendor that would take the memory back if the problem persists and replace the memory. I suspect you will not have to bring it back but it's nice to be able to if needed.
