Hi,

I would start by taking a look at your sound mixer to make sure there is nothing muted or the volume turned down completely.

Any devices in Device Manager with a yellow dot with exclamation mark?

Hi,

Go to the Control Panel
Then go to the "Audio" tab of the "Multimedia" applet
Make sure the "Preferred Device" for playback is your soundcard.
Try selecting the "Use only preferred device" option.

See if this helps!

Also make sure the volume is not off in your applications (e.g. Real Player...)

Are you sure these video clips have sound, some don't?

Can you hear audio CDs?
Can you hear wave files? Go to "Sounds" in Control Panel, select an event with a small speaker in front of it and hit the play button.
