I am unable to uninstall windows messenger version 4.7. I have tried to uninstall it from the add/remove programs & tried to delete it from my programs file, but it keeps telling me that another program might be using it, so won't let me uninstall? I can't see which program i need to turn off to be able to uninstall it?

Hi,

Is the Messenger icon in the icon tray (bottom right hand corner)?
If so, right click and close

If not, try booting up in "Diagnostics Startup Mode"

Hi,

I supplied a link in my previous post explaining how to boot up in Diagnostics Mode. Once you're up in diag mode, try un-installing it.

Try typing this into the run dialogue bar.

Start ->
Run ->
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection%windir\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Click ok and reboot
