Nine days after Barcelona received a record EUR222 million for Neymar, the Catalan giants completed their first signing since his departure, but is Brazilian teammate Paulinho worth the 36.5 million fee paid?
During his time in the Premier League, Brazilian midfielder Paulinho struggled to really make an impact in England, but after a successful stint in the Chinese Super League, the Maglia Inter perisic 29-year-old has just completed one of the shock deals of the summer.
The likes of Sergi Samper, who turned down Arsenal twice because he wanted to succeed at the club, has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp since Paulinho's arrival.
Paulinho's unexpected 36.5 million transfer from Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande has also fueled rumours over the future of Sergi Roberto.
According to Spanish publication Don Balon via The Mirror, Manchester United are 'ready to activate' his release clause. The report suggests United could match Roberto's 36.5m release clause, with the 25-year-old unimpressed with the club's latest arrival.
With all the above in mind, the recently departed Neymar has dedicated an Instagram post to Paulinho following his fodboldtrøjer controversial move.
The 25-year-old may have sent his best wishes to his international teammate, but Barcelona fans are clearly still upset about his move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Comments on the post range from 'take him to PSG with you', to 'you don't deserve to wear the Barcelona shirt'.
