Problem Hardware Make & Model:HP Pavillion 6653C
Error Messages:A/drive not accessible--device not ready

I have tried several different new disks, and message is the same. When I try to access a written disk, sometime I get the message and sometime I get access. Any idea whats up? Could Netscape have any connection.
Sure need help soon, doing a lot of genealogy work.

Hi,

Is the floppy drive old or dusty?

Are you able to read new disks?

Are the disk you're trying to access formatted from another system. If the drives head alignment is off you may get these problems. The only way to fix is to replace the floppy drive!

Thank you, I was afraid you'd say that. The disks I use are new. Am upgrading my Family Tree program and tried to make a backup disk, so far all I can get is that message. Checked some of my disks that had emailed info on them and some I could read (after reinserting) and some I just got the message. Was and is very frustrating. Will let you know what happens.  Trongel
